For the Philadelphia 76ers, the vibes going into next season are rather strange. 

On one hand, the team could finally see its nucleus of Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and Paul George healthy at the same time. On the other, the 76ers won just 24 games last season, and are running out of time to win a championship with Embiid running the show.

Some of the harshest critics of the 76ers feel that the team should just punt their future, and reset things now before it’s too late. ESPN’s Kendrick Perkins, who played in the NBA for 14 seasons, thinks that now is the time to jump ship.

“I would hit the reset button all across the (expletive) board, and it’s not just trading Joel Embiid and Paul George, but I’m also hitting the reset button on who actually paid those guys and jumped the gun,” Perkins said on the most recent episode of ‘Road Trippin.’ “It’s time to clean the front office, like let’s be real here man Daryl Morey has not done a great job, Daryl Morey knew about these injuries and what Joel Embiid was dealing with, Morey gave Embiid an extension.”

The 76ers have yet to reach the conference finals in the “Trust the Process” era, and will certainly have a tough time this season if Embiid can’t stay healthy, which he hasn’t proved to be capable of in two years. Additionally, Paul George’s dramatic fall off last season is likely a cause for concern for the 76ers, who handed George a four-year, $212 million contract before last season. With those factors in place, this upcoming season could be very telling for the 76ers, and could determine their course of action for the future, even if it means tearing the whole thing down.
