Starting quarterback Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals' first-team offense left the team's NFL preseason opener with a 14-7 lead against the Eagles at Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field late in the first quarter.
Burrow completed nine of his 10 attempts for 122 yards with two touchdowns. Bengals receiver Ja'Marr Chase had four catches for 77 yards with a 36-yard touchdown reception. Tight end Tanner Hudson caught Burrow's first TD pass.
Bengals backup QB Jake Browning replaced Burrow for the team's first possession of the second quarter.
Bengals head coach Zac Taylor announced earlier in the week that Burrow and other starters would play several series in Philly, and even more in the team's second preseason game against the Washington Commanders.
ESPN's Louis Riddick recently said on "NFL Live" that if the Bengals want to play Burrow more in the preseason, they had better make sure he's not touched.
During the 2024 preseason, Burrow completed a pass in the NFL preseason for the first time in his career, to receiver Tee Higgins.
