Kelly Oubre Jr. could become a valuable trade piece for the 76ers

The Philadelphia 76ers have plenty of assets on their roster that they can use as potential trade chips. After a weird, injury-riddled season that saw the 76ers win just 24 games, the team is expected to be an aggressive playoff contender in the Eastern Conference next season.

One player that has come up as a trade candidate for the 76ers is Kelly Oubre Jr., with Clutch Points’ Matty Breisch naming him as a “way-too-early” trade candidate.

“Sitting in the final year of a two-year, $16.4 million contract, Oubre, too, could be an attractive trade chip in February,” Breisch wrote. “Both for a contending team that needs another guy who can do a little bit of everything, or for a bad team that just needs someone who can make buckets.”

“Either way, unless Oubre starts performing like his pre-bike accident form in Philly this fall, there’s little reason to keep him on the roster heading into the spring, as his money could be better used to add a player or an asset on the trade market,” he added.

Oubre has spent the last two seasons with the 76ers, averaging 15.3 points per game while both starting and coming off of the bench. For what it’s worth, Oubre’s need on the 76ers is considerably less given the plethora of dynamic guards and wings that they already have on the roster.

While he can struggle with consistency at times, Oubre can still be a valuable trade chip for the 76ers as his services are certainly sought after across the league.
