The Chicago Bulls have found themselves in a very similar free agency scenario as the Golden State Warriors with restricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga.

Like the Warriors and Jonathan Kuminga, the Bulls have their own restricted free agent to come to terms with before the start of the 2025-26 season in guard Josh Giddey.

Giddey, a 22-year-old guard from Australia, is believed to be interested in staying in Chicago after his first season with the team. He was traded to the Bulls in a deal that sent guard Alex Caruso to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2024 offseason.

The Bulls guard had another improving season in the NBA with a struggling Chicago franchise. In 70 games in 2024-25, Giddey finished with averages of 14.6 points and career-highs in rebounds (8.1), assists (7.2), steals (1.2), and three-point percentage (37.8%).

Although the two sides have a mutual interest in figuring out a deal to stay in Chicago, there's been a growing conflict in recent days over the annual amount of money Giddey will be paid. An offer that the Bulls have made is a deal that has him getting paid $20 million a year, but the 2021 lottery pick is looking for something closer to the $30-million-a-year range, according to NBA insider Jake Fischer.

As the season inches closer and no deal has been agreed upon, it's been mentioned that the Golden State Warriors are interested in a sign-and-trade deal for the Bulls' guard.

"Golden State would be interested in, depending on how the machinations could go, some type of Josh Giddey, Jonathan Kuminga sign-and-trade, to my understanding," Fischer said in his podcast.

Speculation says that Giddey and the Bulls are going to get a deal done, but if contract negotiations aren't agreed upon, the Warriors could be a place where he gets moved.
