Liberty's Breanna Stewart reveals she'll return from injury by her birthday originally appeared on The Sporting News

Breanna Stewart has been out injured for a couple weeks.

The New York Liberty star is trying to ramp things up in hopes of a return soon. But even as that happens, Liberty fans got a piece of solid news in Stewart's new comments.

She told reporters what the must is in her comeback from injury:

"I'm on the training staff to let me be back, to free me a little bit, but definitely before my birthday, that's a non-negotiable. I have to be back before my birthday."

When is Stewart's birthday? August 27.

So that's two weeks or so that Stewie has to return to the floor.

Stewart has been out since late July with a right leg injury that she sustained on July 26.

Before the injury, Stewie was putting up 18.3 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game. She remains one of the best players on the planet.

She'll turn 31 years old on her birthday, still near the peak of her powers.

Stewart is one of the best winners in the history of sports, from Cicero-North Syracuse High School to the University of Connecticut and then on to the Seattle Storm and New York Liberty in the WNBA.

She's also one of the best players in women's basketball history, a two-time WNBA MVP and one of the most skilled frontcourt players to ever step onto the hardwood.

Stewart also helped the Liberty claim the championship last season, and they'll need her back to try and defend that crown. And it sounds like she'll be back very, very soon, in time for a little celebration.
