After winning an NBA championship, Ousmane Dieng didn't have much time to celebrate. He quickly joined France to compete in the 2025 EuroBasket. Alas, on a stacked roster, the 22-year-old's time on his home country squad was cut short.

After a couple of friendly competitions before the tournament started, Dieng was cut from the roster. He was part of the first wave of players let go. The roster was reduced to 14 players. Alex Sarr, Zaccharie Risacher, Bilal Coulibaly and Guerschon Yabusele are the only NBA players on France's roster now.

The 2025 EuroBasket will take place from Aug. 27 to Sept. 14. 24 teams will participate and be split into four groups. Once group play is over, 16 teams will advance to the knockout tournament. The reigning EuroBasket champion is Spain, which won it in 2022.

It's a shame to see Dieng not even make the standard roster. It could've given Oklahoma City Thunder fans something to look forward to in the driest part of the NBA calendar. Instead, he returns to focusing on offseason improvement.

Dieng has yet to establish himself on the Thunder. His first three seasons have been marked by player development and injuries. While he's dominated the G League, he hasn't had similar success in the NBA. Considering the Thunder are bringing back mostly the same roster, it's difficult to see much change for him in his decisive fourth season.
