The Sacramento Kings could land Trae Young from the Atlanta Hawks this offseason in a blockbuster trade.
Kings Could Trade $150 Million Duo For Hawks' Trae Young in Blockbuster Offseason Deal originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Sacramento Kings made the surprising decision to upgrade their roster this offseason and try to compete for a playoff spot next season despite many around the NBA believing that they would begin a rebuild after trading De’Aaron Fox last season.
Instead, the Kings have kept their core of Domantas Sabonis, Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan together and they have also made some notable additions to their roster this summer.
In the 2025 draft, the Kings selected Nique Clifford and Maxime Raynaud and they also landed Dennis Schroder in free agency via a sign-and-trade with the Detroit Pistons.
Sacramento has also been linked to other players around the league, including both Russell Westbrook and Jonathan Kuminga, but they have recently been named among the favorites to acquire Trae Young from the Atlanta Hawks.
According to Bovada, the Kings have the third-best odds (+375) to land Young in a trade, following only the Orlando Magic (+250) and Brooklyn Nets (+290).

Young has recently come up in trade rumors as it has been reported that the Hawks have not offered him a contract extension despite him being eligible for one and the Kings could pounce on the opportunity to land the star guard this summer.
Mock trade sends Trae Young to Kings
In a potential trade for Young, the Kings could send DeRozan, Malik Monk, Devin Carter and a first-round pick in 2027 and 2029 to the Hawks in exchange for their superstar guard.
Of course, adding Young would be a massive boost to Sacramento’s roster, especially to their point guard position after trading Fox last season.
Young is an elite three-point shooter and playmaker that would fit in nicely on the Kings’ roster next to Sabonis and LaVine.
Despite this, a package centered around two veterans in Monk and DeRozan may not be enough for Atlanta to make this trade as they would likely want one of either Keegan Murray or Keon Ellis in return.
While that may be the case, the Kings have shown no interest in moving Murray or Ellis as they view them as key parts of their future but to land Young, they may have to include one of them in a trade package.
