Bountiful’s Milika Satuala verbally pledged to Gavin Petersen’s program.
It’s been a great couple weeks on the in-state recruiting trail for Gavin Petersen and the Utah women’s basketball program.
One week after the Utes received a verbal commit from the state’s top 2026 recruiting prospect, Kanab’s Rylee Little, Utah got another one Tuesday night.
It came from Bountiful wing Milika Satuala, who announced her pledge on Instagram.
Who is Milika Satuala?
Satuala is a 5-foot-10 shooting guard who is rated a four-star prospect with a 0.9723 rating in 247 Sports’ composite rankings.
247 Sports rates her as the No. 70 recruit in the country in the 2026 recruiting class, the 12th-best shooting guard overall and the No. 2 recruit in Utah, behind only Little.
“Satuala plays the game with an intensity that few of her classmates can match. Her size and mobility give coaches the option to play her at the 2-4 depending on the opponent matchup. Satuala is an ideal utility prospect in that way. She produces without needing specific set calls and can defend high level scoring options,” 247 Sports’ Brandon Clay wrote in scouting Satuala.
“It’s rare that prospects with Satuala’s work ethic, athleticism and competitive spirit don’t wind up being productive at the college level. Look for her to improve her 3-point shooting over time. That’s an aspect of Satuala’s game that can go up a notch.”
Satuala has a pair of siblings also playing collegiate sports: her sister, Emrie Moea’i, is a senior on the Utah volleyball team, while her brother, Faletau Satuala, is a sophomore safety on the BYU football team.
Milika Satuala averaged 13.9 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 3.4 steals per game last season for Bountiful, helping the Redhawks win the 5A state title.
She scored a team-high 17 points and added six rebounds, three assists, two steals and three blocks for Bountiful in its 57-47 win over West in last season’s 5A championship game.
Satuala has won three straight 5A state titles with the Redhawks. As a freshman, she scored nine fourth-quarter points and led Bountiful with 16 in helping her team edge Springville 41-39 for the 5A crown.
She is a two-time 5A first-team All-State honoree from the Deseret News. Satuala also earned third-team all-state honors as a freshman.
How does Milika Satuala fit into Utah’s future plans?
Satuala becomes the next high-rated guard recruit to commit to the Utes in recent seasons.
While she is the first guard in the 2026 class, Satuala will team with several young talents when she arrives at the school.
Utah’s 2025 recruiting class — a group that will be freshmen this season — was headlined by five-star point guard LA Sneed and also includes four-star talents Avery Hjelmstad and Ella Todd.
Utah will be paced along the guard line by a couple of upperclassmen this season in seniors Maty Wilke and Lani White.
Satuala, though, will have her chances to make an impact on a guard lineup that, when she arrives, could also include current sophomores Brooke Walker and Grace Foster.
