Detroit Lions cornerback Ennis Rakestraw Jr. has been plagued by injuries since he entered the league in 2024 and now the former second-round pick has a new one to worry about.
According to reports, Rakestraw suffered a shoulder injury at practice on Sunday, marking the second time he has exited a training camp session early due to injury.
"Lions CB Ennis Rakestraw is being evaluated for a shoulder injury that he sustained in a one-on-one tackling drill," Nolan Bianchi of The Detroit News reported. "He fell on his left shoulder and struggled to get up."
As we await an update on Rakestraw's status, Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold made a post to social media that leads us to believe that the Missouri product's shoulder might be in bad shape.
"Stay up 9," Arnold wrote on Instagram. "It gets greater later."
Again, we don't know what Rakestraw's exact status is just yet, but it's hard to believe Arnold would post something like that if Rakestraw suffered a minor injury.
Rakestraw dealt with multiple hamstring issues during his rookie campaign that limited him to just nine games. During the team's first training camp practice, he suffered a chest contusion that forced him to miss time.
Rakestraw was a candidate for the slot cornerback job before his injury early in the 2024 season, but the Lions have since said he will work on the boundary this offseason.
