Patrick Mahomes, one of the NFL’s most dominant quarterbacks and a three-time Super Bowl champion and three-time Super Bowl MVP, will enter the Madden NFL 26 season with a 95 overall rating — fourth among quarterbacks.
According to an Instagram post by EAMaddenNFL, which revealed the top player ratings across several positions, Mahomes ranks behind Josh Allen (99), Lamar Jackson (99) and Joe Burrow (97), triggering a wave of confusion and frustration across NFL and gaming circles alike.
Mahomes, 28, led the Kansas City Chiefs to their third Super Bowl title in five years in February 2024, outdueling the San Francisco 49ers and cementing his reputation as the sport’s ultimate big-game performer.
Mahomes followed that up with another standout season in 2024. He finished the regular season with 3,928 passing yards, 26 touchdowns and 11 interceptions, leading the Chiefs to another Super Bowl appearance before losing to the Philadelphia Eagles.

The sentiment was echoed by longtime Madden players who believe the franchise leans into controversy with its ratings to spark engagement. “MADDEN RAGEBAITING WITH OVERALLS IN 2025,” one comment read.
Even some Chiefs supporters framed the ranking as manufactured disrespect aimed at stirring conversation. Whatever the intent, it clearly worked. Mahomes' 95 rating might reflect a more balanced stat set in EA's algorithm, but for most fans, the optics don’t match reality.
Why Mahomes’ Resume Still Sets the Standard
Though Mahomes isn’t atop the Madden 26 quarterback ratings, his resume continues to outshine most of his peers. He has yet to miss an AFC Championship Game since becoming Kansas City’s starter in 2018 and owns two league MVPs.
Statistically, his touchdown-to-interception ratio (3.31 TD:INT) remains elite, and the creativity of his off-platform throws is unparalleled.
While Jackson, Allen and Burrow had strong 2024 seasons, Mahomes has remained the model of sustained dominance. The fact that a 95 rating is seen as a snub only reinforces how high the standard is for the Chiefs quarterback.
