A former teammate of Tom Brady's is making plays at Las Vegas Raiders training camp
The Las Vegas Raiders hosted a mock game at Allegiant Stadium on Saturday, and one of minority owner Tom Brady's former teammates made some noise.
According to Levi Edwards of Raiders.com, veteran wide receiver Phillip Dorsett stood out on Saturday, hauling in two touchdowns. Edwards adds that Dorsett could be gaining momentum for a roster spot ahead of the team's preseason opener versus the Seattle Seahawks on August 7.
"He [Dorsett] has returned under the Pete Carroll regime, growing his role day by day in camp," Edwarss wrote. "With his speed, he got loose twice behind the secondary for two touchdown grabs. The first was in the red zone from Aidan O'Connell, and the second was a deep pass from Geno Smith."
"In what's been a competitive wide receiver room, Dorsett could be gaining momentum heading into the preseason opener against the Seattle Seahawks."
Dorsett signed with the Raiders on July 22 after spending some time with the Atlanta Falcons in 2024. The 32-year-old last played in a regular-season game in 2023 with Denver Broncos.
Though he has never been a high-caliber starting receiver, Dorsett is best known for his stints with the Indianapolis Colts and New England Patriots. The former first-round pick posted his career-high in receiving yards (528) with the Colts in 2016, and was also a solid target for Brady in New England from 2017 to 2019.
The depth spots in the Raiders' wide receiver room are up for grabs. If Dorsett plays well in the preseason and continues to impress in practice, the Miami product has a good chance of making the 53-man roster.
