Knicks trade proposal brings Giannis Antetokounmpo to New York for $212 million star

The Knicks could make a big swing.

The New York Knicks might have given up hope on a big swing for now, but the door isn’t shut yet.

The Knicks made the most recent big move of the offseason when they agreed to a four-year, $150 million extension with Mikal Bridges. After giving up so much draft capital for the dynamic wing last offseason, it was an easy decision for the team to lock him up long term.

Along with Bridges being a Knick for the foreseeable future, the team reportedly has given up hope on Giannis Antetokounmpo’s availability. Considering Bridges could have been a key trade piece and his lack of a future deal could have made the financial part of any trade easier, the Knicks are ready to lock in on next season with their current core.

Still, if things change suddenly in Milwaukee and the two-time MVP is up for grabs, the Knicks could still have a solid offer for the Bucks. As suggested by Fantasy Sports on SI’s Ryan Shea, the Knicks still have a way to add Antetokounmpo:

Bucks receive: OG Anunoby, Mitchell Robinson, three first-round picks, two second-round picks

Knicks receive: Giannis Antetokounmpo

While getting someone like Karl-Anthony Towns might make the most sense for the Bucks in the short term, getting a haul of draft picks plus tradeable starters could be what Milwaukee would actually want in a full teardown. Meanwhile, the Knicks likely couldn’t care less about their future drafts if Antetokounmpo ends up in New York.

With Robinson and Anunoby’s importance each taking a hit if they were on the roster with Antetokounmpo, parting ways with both to make the deal happen likely wouldn’t be a tough decision.

For now, the Knicks are set for next season and are hoping to make another deep playoff run. However, if Antetokounmpo is suddenly on the market, the Knicks could be the team willing to shake things up.
