Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham is parlaying her success on the basketball court to the media world, launching a podcast called "Show Me Something,"which will be co-hosted by fellow Missouri native West Wilson.
Cunningham is gaining popularity with every WNBA game she plays, attracting a huge fan base for her fearless play style and candid nature. That'll translate well to the media world.
While Cunningham is well-known, not everyone might be familiar with her co-host, Wilson, a former reality TV star turned YouTuber, who's now committed to the podcast world.
West Wilson Featured on Bravo TV's 'Summer House'
Wilson is best known for his stint on the eighth season of Bravo TV's reality TV show "Summer House" from earlier this year. The relationship drama that Wilson's stint on the show left was well-documented, with fans having polarizing reactions to his appearance.
Cunningham revealed to People that she has her Fever teammates hooked on the show as well, primarily because her childhood friend West is on it.
"That part makes me nervous, that the team's watching," confessed Wilson in the interview before he and Cunningham revealed that the Fever team is rooting for Wilson on the show.
How Did Sophie Cunningham And West Wilson Meet?
Cunningham and Wilson are childhood friends from Columbia, Missouri. Wilson revealed to People that he wasn't surprised to see her reach the level she has in the WNBA, given how early she excelled in the sport.
"She's been balling since eighth grade, so this part of her life isn't surprising to me," he says.
They both have gone on to have successful careers, with this being the perfect time for them to team up on something of their own in the media world.
The show is bound to lead to phenomenal tidbits between the pair which will give us insight into Cunningham as a teenager chasing her WNBA dream.
Wilson also spoke about how he and Cunningham joined forces to make this a reality.
"We've both been doing media stuff for a while. We've also both gotten in trouble for (expletive) before... I don't necessarily know what Sophie's fan base is like, what they like or don't like, but it'll be fun to explore that."
West Wilson Has Experience on YouTube
According to his LinkedIn profile, Wilson, 29, is a sports social and editorial producer at Complex Networks. He also lists himself as a video producer for Bleacher Report, with previous stints at Major League Baseball and Pandora, among others.
Wilson hosted a show called "West Date Ever" for Complex’s YouTube channel. It featured videos of Wilson challenging women to competitive dates, while talking about what it’s like to be single.
This experience will come in handy as he helps Cunningham navigate the waters of the podcasting world. Fever and WNBA fans will be tuning in regularly to see how this dynamic works out.
