Jonathan Kuminga reportedly made a massive decision regrading his future with the Golden State Warriors amid their ongoing saga.
Jonathan Kuminga Makes Huge Decision in Ongoing Saga With Warriors: Report originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
As the NBA offseason has died down with many of the top free agents already singing new deals and the 2025 Las Vegas Summer League coming to an end, there has been one headline dominating the league.
That would be the ongoing saga between Jonathan Kuminga and the Golden State Warriors as the two sides continue to work on Kuminga’s next step of his career.
Of course, Kuminga fell out of Steve Kerr’s rotation last season after the Warriors acquired Jimmy Butler at the trade deadline and if he is still in Golden State, his role in the rotation is still up in the air.
Because of this, many around the league believe that the young forward will elect to move on from Golden State this summer but he is taking his time in making a final decision.
On Wednesday, Kuminga made a major decision regarding his career in Golden State as he declined their contract offer.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania and Anthony Slater, Kuminga turned down the Warriors’ two-year, $45 million contract offer.

This is not a major surprise as NBA insider Marc Stein reported on Tuesday that Kuminga is seeking a contract that will pay him $30 million per season.

Despite this, the Warriors have come nowhere near Kuminga’s asking price on a new contract and with many teams around the NBA not showing interest in him this summer, he may be forced to take a smaller contract to either stay in Golden State or sign with another team.
Either way, it is clear that the saga between Kuminga and the Warriors is likely set to continue into August as the young forward continues to take his time in making a decision about his future.
This is also not a good sign for Golden State as they have already missed out on multiple free agent targets while awaiting Kuminga’s decision and they likely want to bring an end to the saga as quickly as possible.
