The Miami Dolphins held their seventh day of training camp Wednesday and were dealt some unfortunate news surrounding starting cornerback Kader Kohou, who is set to enter his fourth year in the NFL.

He won't be seeing the field at all in 2025, with ESPN's Adam Schefter reporting that the cornerback will miss the entire season due to a knee injury he sustained during the team's Saturday practice.

That's certainly bad news considering the Miami secondary was already light after trading cornerback Jalen Ramsey to the Pittsburgh Steelers and losing safety Jevon Holland to the New York Giants during free agency.

Dolphins Urged to Replace Kohou Via Trade

To help replace Kohou, Seth Walder of ESPN proposes a trade that sends the Kansas City Chiefs a 2027 sixth-round pick, while the Dolphins acquire two-time Super Bowl champion cornerback Joshua Williams.

"Miami looks more like a team in flux than a franchise looking to add talent before the season," Walder wrote. "But given the state of the Dolphins' cornerback group, a low-risk maneuver like this would make sense."

However, finding someone to fill in for Kohou isn't that simple. He's coming off a career year, being targeted 69 times while allowing 45 receptions, 419 yards, two touchdowns and a 79.3 passer rating (career-best).

Williams Had Solid Numbers in 2024

There's no doubt that while on the Chiefs, Williams' playing time has been limited. He appeared in all 17 games last season, yet only made six starts.

He made the most of that, though, allowing just 16 completions, 160 yards, one touchdown and a 77.4 passer rating on 31 targets. Combining that with 33 tackles, two tackles for loss and six pass deflections, you get an efficient stat line.

With more playing time, he could put out the same kind of production the Dolphins were getting out of Kohou.

How Much Money Is Attached to Williams?

One big aspect of trading for any player, though, is considering the contract the team must take on, and the Dolphins don't have a tremendous amount of wiggle room, sitting with $12.3 million in cap space, which ranks 28th in the NFL.

Luckily, trading for Williams is feasible, as he's set to have a cap hit of just $3.57 million in the final season of his rookie contract with the Chiefs.

If Kansas City were willing to part with Williams for something as small as a 2027 sixth-round pick, then this is an opportunity the Dolphins could easily jump on.
