A recent report has revealed the most likely outcome in the saga between the Golden State Warriors and Jonathan Kuminga.
Most Likely Outcome in Warriors–Jonathan Kuminga Saga Revealed: Report originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The ongoing saga between the Golden State Warriors and young forward Jonathan Kuminga has been the headline of the offseason thus far around the NBA.
Of course, the Warriors have failed to make any moves outside of the 2025 draft due to them still waiting for a decision by Kuminga.
Because of this, Golden State has missed out on multiple free agent targets who could have been a massive boost to their roster next season as they try to chase a championship behind their aging trio of Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green.
There has also been a lack of interest from almost the entire league when it comes to acquiring Kuminga via a sign-and-trade this offseason and ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel recently reported that Kuminga’s return to Golden State next season is the likely outcome.
“At the end of the day, a return to the Warriors still seems like the most likely outcome for Kuminga this offseason,” Siegel wrote. “Even though he wishes for an elevated role elsewhere and has been at odds with head coach Steve Kerr in the past, a return makes the most sense for both parties. Of course, that is assuming the Dubs will actually play him as a key weapon/contributor and Kuminga agrees to continue working on his development in a positive light.”
In his report, Siegel did mention that the Sacramento Kings and Chicago Bulls are the two likely trade destinations for Kuminga this summer but if they are unable to get a deal done, it looks as though the young forward will return to The Bay next season.
Siegel also came up with a few contracts Golden State could offer to Kuminga this summer with the top one being a three-year, $75 million deal that includes a player option.
Either way, it appears as though Kuminga will be heading back to Golden State next season and it is likely that the Warriors will explore trades for him ahead of next season’s trade deadline.
