The Miami Dolphins have already been hit by the injury bug in a bad way. However, one injury to the core group on the field and this season is as good as done.
Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel is entering a make-or-break season. While not a contract year in the traditional sense, it carries similar weight—not necessarily in terms of money, but in terms of job security. McDaniel finds himself firmly on the hot seat, and after a series of trades and roster moves, his chances of cooling it down don't look promising.
“All of those now put a tremendous amount of pressure on McDaniel, who is coming off his first under .500 season with the Dolphins, who were also on the outside looking in on the playoffs. We already listed McDaniel as a head coach with one of the hottest seats in the NFL entering 2025, and the road to save his job just got even more difficult,” CBS Sports’ Tyler Sullivan wrote.
Injuries have dealt a major blow to the Dolphins’ secondary, particularly at cornerback. Kader Kohou suffered a season-ending injury but remains in good spirits.
“You don't know the whys all the time when things happen, and I get concerned for guys who get stuck in that world of a fixation for 'opportunities lost.' Kader's mindset triggered like that, to where he said, 'This is tough but I guarantee I'm going to come back better.' That is the way to approach both the game of football and life,” McDaniel said.
The Dolphins did add reinforcements at cornerback over the weekend, but it’s clear more help may be needed. Meanwhile, Miami Herald’s Omar Kelly believes the offensive line is on an even thinner edge.
“This season is one O-lineman injury away from being a disaster,” Kelly posted.

This many injuries during training camp is the last thing any head coach wants. It’s clear the Dolphins need their offensive line more than ever. The injury bug has already taken a toll, but if it hits that core group, the season could be over before it even begins.
