There's no doubt that when it comes to the SEC, there aren't many conferences in college football that compare, and to be a competitive team, you need to be constantly putting together talented rosters.

Much of that starts at the high school level, and one program that has done well with the 2026 recruiting class is the Tennessee Volunteers, who so far have received a total of 22 player commitments, ranking No. 7 in the SEC and No. 14 in the nation.

They haven't shown many signs of slowing down either, because on Monday, they made their latest addition to that group in the form of dual-threat athlete Joel Wyatt out of Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

It's certainly a big pickup for the Volunteers as Rivals Industry Rankings place him as a four-star recruit, the No. 4 athlete, the No. 2 player in Tennessee and the No. 58 player in the nation, with his primary positions being wide receiver and safety.

Last season for The Webb School, Wyatt put up some solid numbers, racking up 44 receptions, 890 yards, 10 touchdowns, 31 tackles, three tackles for loss and one fumble recovery in 10 games.

Tennessee was going up against several big programs to land his commitment, as Rivals' Steve Wiltfong reported the LSU Tigers, North Carolina Tar Heels, Oklahoma Sooners and Vanderbilt Commodores were also options.

He also becomes the second-highest nationally ranked player Tennessee has landed in this year's cycle, sitting behind five-star quarterback Faizon Brandon (No. 11), who committed on Aug. 3, 2024.
