The Detroit Tigers have drawn a line at what players are available to trade as the MLB trade deadline inches closer.
The Detroit Tigers have run into a slump as the season hits the MLB trade deadline later this week. They have lost 12 of their last 14 games.
With this being said, there has been some speculation that the Tigers could be interested in trading for relief depth in the bullpen and even possibly adding another bat to help bolster the lineup.
Detroit could trade for relief guys like the St. Louis Cardinals' Ryan Helsley, the Cleveland Guardians' Cade Smith, or even the Arizona Diamondbacks' power-hitting Eugenio Suarez, but Detroit drew a line on what players they would send over.
"The Tigers don't want to trade any of their top-100 prospects, as ranked by MLB Pipeline."
"Which makes these five players untouchable in trade talks for a two-month rental like Suarez: shortstop Kevin McGonigle, center fielder Max Clark, shortstop Bryce Rainer, first baseman/catcher Josue Briceno, and catcher Thayron Liranzo," According to the Detroit Free Press's Evan Petzold.
With this news, Detroit would be willing to offer its prospects that are ranked No. 6 through 30. This includes players like right-handed pitcher Troy Melton, infielder Hao-Yu Lee, outfielder Cris Rodriguez, and infielder Max Anderson.
It would be likely for the Tigers to offer multiple prospects in their system that aren't in the top 100 as a package deal to land a ready player that can be implemented into their lineup right away.
Detroit's desire to add experienced veterans will help upgrade their lineup in order to stay at the top of the AL Central division and put them in the best possible situation to push for a World Series title.
