Ohio State received a transfer commitment from Dominick Kelly, who was a promising cornerback as a freshman at Georgia in 2025.
Ohio State bolstered its secondary on Jan. 15 with a verbal commitment from former Georgia cornerback Dominick Kelly.
It was the second transfer cornerback from the SEC who made a pledge to join the Buckeyes in the span of one day.
Kelly followed Cam Calhoun, a former cornerback at Alabama who committed hours earlier.
The transfers add to a position group that had become more of a need during this offseason transfer portal window.
While Jermaine Mathews Jr. and Devin Sanchez offer clear talent at the top of the depth chart, the number of options after them was dwindling. Aaron Scott Jr. and Bryce West, two of the Buckeyes’ top backups last fall, entered the portal this month.
Kelly was a backup cornerback at Georgia this past season, making three tackles and breaking up three passes in 10 games, but was just a freshman and will transfer to Ohio State with three years of eligibility left.
Kelly was considered one of the better available transfer cornerbacks, as 247Sports’ rankings had the 6-foot-1, 190-pounder at No. 10 at the position on the day before the window closed.
