Game notes
- Yes, there is a hockey game tonight, but another number will be headed to the rafters before it! The Bruins will celebrate Zdeno Chara in a pregame number retirement ceremony slated to start at 6:20 p.m. as his No. 33 joins all the other Bruins’ greats. For anyone going to the game, there is a “Gold Carpet” with Patrice Bergeron, Tim Thomas, Ray Bourque, Dennis Seidenberg and Andrew Ference in attendance. That all happens around 4:15 p.m.
- The Boston Bruins are looking to extend their winning ways tonight as the Seattle Kraken come to the TD Garden. The Bruins are on a four-game winning streak, and more impressively, a two-game shoutout streak. The two shutout wins earned both goalies their first shutouts of the season.
- The Bruins have outscored their opponents 18 to 3 in that time span.
- Seattle comes to Boston on the tail end of a back-to-back after facing New Jersey last night. They are in the middle of a five-game road trip.
- But it wasn’t long ago that these two teams saw each other. The Kraken handed the Bruins their last lost on Jan. 6 as Seattle topped them 7-4. It was a back and forth game until the Bruins dug themselves into a four-goal hole, only coming within two scores with minutes left in the third period. In that game, Pastrnak scored twice. Four goals combined between the two teams were power play goals. Catton picked up his first two goals of the season for the Kraken in the contest
- For the Bruins, Pavel Zacha has four goals in his last five games, with three of those coming from Saturday’s 10-2 win. For Seattle, Berkly Catton has four goals as well in his last five games.
- Head-to-head, the Bruins hold the advantage on special teams at 24.6% on the power play and 79.4% on the PK. The Kraken are 22.4% on the man advantage and last in the league on the penalty kill at 71.4%.
- In honor of Chara, we’d love for you to share your favorite moments from his 1 years here! We’re sure there are some…to say the least!
- See ya tonight!
