Köln’s Geißblogreports that 1. FC Köln’s interest in SC Freiburg attacker Eren Dinkçi has cooled. The 24-year-old may nevertheless still be in line for an inter-Bundesliga move. As reported by Sky Germany earlier this week, VfL Wolfsburg are also interested in loaning the Bremen-native out. Dinkçi hopes to depart the Schwarzwaldverein – at which he enjoys poor playing prospects – during the current January transfer window.
Heidenheim and Wolfsburg may now be less interested in Dinkçi
A previously published Get German Football News piece covers Dinkçi’s Bundesliga journey in greater depth. Rumors linking Dinkçi with a transfer to Heidenheim – where he enjoyed his greatest professional success – appeared to have some heft to them. Heidenheim’s recent signing of Braunschweig winger Christian Joe Conteh may mean that FCH interest in Dinkçi has also cooled as Franck Schmidt’s squad are now overstocked on the right.
Wolfsburg continue to require help at just about every position, yet have plenty of other pending transfer business to attend to. Christian Eriksen’s recent ability to establish himself on Dinkçi’s right-hand-side also leaves Dinkçi without much promise of regular playing time.
Could a loan to Bremen be a possibility?
A loan move back to Dinkçi’s old academy club Werder Bremen would actually make a great deal of sense for all parities involved, but Bremen have effectively declared themselves finished with attacking additions this January following the signing of Stuttgart’s Jovan Milosevic.
