NFC Playoff Picture: Eagles will host 49ers in Wild Card round

The Eagles will host the 49ers in the first round of the playoffs.

The NFC playoff picture is officially set as the Philadelphia Eagles have clinched the No. 3 seed in the conference..

There was still a chance that Nick Sirianni’s team could earn the No. 2 seed, but they needed to beat the Washington Commanders in Week 18, and also needed the Chicago Bears to lose to the Detroit Lions. It didn’t matter that the Lions won since the Eagles lost and locked in the No. 3 spot.

With the seeding set, we now know the Eagles will play the San Francisco 49ers, who dropped to the No. 6 seed after they lost to the Seattle Seahawks on Saturday night and the Los Angeles Rams won to rise to the No. 5 seed on Sunday afternoon.

The Eagles were able to manufacture their own bye week heading into the postseason and many of the starters were able to rest for the season finale. Now they’ll face a familiar 49ers team during the Wild Card round in the confines of Lincoln Financial Field. The importance of having a home playoff game cannot be overstated, and we all know how much Eagles fans can help create the perfect environment to motivate and support their team.

We’ll find out the schedule for the Wild Card weekend following Week 18’s soon enough but the Eagles will likely play on either Saturday or Sunday.
