Travis Hunter just had the biggest six-month stretch in his professional career, winning the Heisman Trophy and getting drafted No. 2 overall by the Jaguars.
While the two-way player made the leap to the next level, he did it amid his father's personal troubles. Travis Hunter Sr. served a jail sentence last year that ended around the time Hunter won the Heisman Trophy at Colorado.
Now, Hunter Sr. is back in trouble, as he was arrested in Florida for allegedly violating the terms of his probation. While the 39-year-old appeared to have his most recent conviction in the rear-view mirror, he still has some elements of his sentencing that he has to abide by moving forward.

Travis Hunter dad arrest
Travis Hunter Sr. was arrested this week in Palm Beach County, Fla. after he violated the terms of his probation, USA Today reports. According to court documents, Hunter Sr.'s probation officer couldn't locate him for about 11 minutes on June 28, claiming that Hunter Sr. was "too far away from his monitoring device to be accurately tracked."
On June 28, Hunter Sr. told the monitoring center that he was simply in a different room as the monitoring device. Later, he added that he was looking for the device when the alarm was going off, as he was "moving too fast and forgot it."
After the probation officer tested the equipment to make sure it was working properly, an arrest warrant was issued for Hunter Sr. for "failing to submit to electronic monitoring."
What happened to Travis Hunter's dad?
In 2023, Hunter Sr. was arrested for for gun and drug-related charges. That was on top of a 2018 arrest when Hunter Sr. was convicted of "sale or possession of heroin with intent to sell," which impacted his sentencing for his latest arrest.
Hunter Sr. was sentenced to 90 days in Palm Beach County West Detention Center, three years on probation, and one year community control supervision. He was released from jail on Dec. 5, nine days before his son officially won the Heisman Trophy.
