This offseason, the Tennessee Titans essentially pivoted off of quarterback Will Levis when they drafted Cam Ward with the No. 1 pick. However, they kept the former second-round pick on the roster and didn't name Ward the starter.

Unfortunately for Levis, he won't get a chance to compete for that starting job. The Titans announced on Monday that the quarterback will not be playing this season due to a shoulder injury.

"After consulting with doctors and his representatives, Will Levis has decided to undergo shoulder surgery that will sideline him for the entire 2025 season," the Titans said in a statement. "We support his decision to focus on his long-term health. He approached the offseason with professionalism and showed clear growth as a leader. We remain confident in his full recovery."

Levis has been dealing with shoulder issues since last season, and they haven't gotten better, which is why he has chosen to undergo surgery. This is a tough development for a young quarterback who is still trying to prove that he belongs in the NFL.

He was highly touted coming out of Kentucky, but he faltered last season when he had a chance to start with the Titans. His future in Tennessee was murky with Ward coming aboard, but he could've had the chance to show some improvement in training camp and in preseason games.

He'll now have to wait another year before he can prove to other teams that he deserves a chance to start again.
