Two Steelers were injured in Pittsburgh’s dramatic, down-to-the-wire 29-24 win in Detroit on Sunday.
Speaking to the media in his postgame press conference, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said cornerback Brandin Echols suffered a groin injury and wide receiver Calvin Austin III suffered a hamstring injury. Neither were able to return to the game after leaving.
“I’m sure it’s a laundry list of other things,” Tomlin said to close out the injury report in his uncharacteristically short opening statement. He said the team would “divide the labor up next week” regarding injury replacements, but instead wanted to focus on the roster for holding onto a win.
As expected, Tomlin said he had no comment on wide receiver D.K. Metcalf’s altercation with a fan in the first half. Metcalf has yet to face discipline from the league for the interaction.
Pittsburgh was banged up entering the game, defeating the Lions despite having T.J. Watt, Nick Herbig, James Pierre, and Isaac Seumalo out of the lineup.
