Georgia football faces rematch in the Sugar Bowl

The Georgia Bulldogs will play the Ole Miss Rebels in a rematch of two SEC foes in the Sugar Bowl. What are your initial thoughts on the game

The No. 3 seed Georgia Bulldogs (12-1, 7-1 SEC) will play the No. 6 seed Ole Miss Rebels (12-1, 7-1 SEC) in the Sugar Bowl. Ole Miss dominated the No. 11 seed Tulane Green Wave (11-3, 7-1 AAC) in a 41-10 home win in the first round of the playoff.

Georgia will play Ole Miss in a rematch of the Rebels' only loss of the season. The Bulldogs beat Ole Miss 43-35 in October behind a thrilling fourth quarter comeback that featured over 850 yards of total offense and two total punts.

The Sugar Bowl will be played at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana at 8 p.m. ET on New Year's Day. The Sugar Bowl is one of four College Football Playoff quarterfinals. Last year, Georgia lost to Notre Dame 23-10 in the Sugar Bowl, which was quarterback Gunner Stockton's first career start.

This year, Georgia and coach Kirby Smart are looking to have a better performance in the Sugar Bowl. Georgia, like last season, won the SEC championship, but the 2025 Bulldogs have a very different feel because of Stockton's experience and Georgia's ability to run the ball. The Bulldogs had their best defensive performance of the season in the SEC championship game against Alabama and have momentum headed into their clash against Ole Miss.

The winner of the Sugar Bowl will play the winner of the quarterfinal between the No. 2 seed Ohio State Buckeyes and the No. 10 seed Miami Hurricanes.
