The Morning Commute for Tuesday, December 16
Welcome to the Morning Commute
Today we’re talking about Ahmad Hardy and Keagen Trost
The All-American honors keep on coming for Mizzou running back Ahmad Hardy. After being the first running back in Mizzou football history to earn Walter Camp First Team-All American honors — he became the 13th overall player in Mizzou’s history to land on AP All-American First Team.
After landing Second-Team Walter Camp honors, offensive Lineman Keagen Trost joins Hardy as an AP All-American as well via third team honors.
Hardy adds the honor to a list that includes being tabbed SEC Newcomer of the Year and unanimous first team All-SEC by the Associated Press, first team All-SEC by league coaches, On3 All-America honors and First Team All-America by the Walter Camp Football Foundation. His addition to the AP’s First Team makes him the 13th First Team AP All-American in program history, and just the second running back to do so (Cody Schrader – 2023).
Trost adds the AP Third Team All-America honors to his resume after being named second team All-America by the Walter Camp Football Foundation, first team All-SEC by both the Associated Press and league coaches in addition to an All-America nod from Pro Football Focus last week.
Both have been fun to watch this season. Hardy will end his sophomore campaign, and Trost will end his college career in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl vs No. 19 Virginia on December 27th (6:30 p.m. CST on ABC).
Yesterday at Rock M and Rock M+
Burden was putting up Mizzou-like numbers with 84 receiving yards on six catches from Caleb Williams. Both numbers led the team, as did the seven targets toward LB3. But what could’ve been a real breakout game from Burden ended in a setback.
Tough news for LB3, but here’s hoping it’s nothing too serious.
In this week’s coverage of Photos of the Week, gymnastics gets the first feature of the season! The Tigers hosted their Black & Gold intrasquad meet on Friday and Team Gold took the win 158.150-157.650. Men’s basketball faced Alabama State on Thursday and Bethune-Cookman on Sunday, winning 85-77 and 82-60, respectively.
Plenty of great photos of the week from Hannah featuring men’s hoops, and yes, gymnastics — as we inch closer to the season.
With Illinois coming up, Missouri really needed a game to get a better hold on what they’re trying to be. And this game looked like the most cohesive version we’ve seen yet. Let’s hope it’s just the first step towards a re-establishment of what we thought they could be coming into the season.
Mizzou put up a better performance in Sunday’s win against Bethune Cookman. Now, the Quad 4 games are over. Let’s see what this team is made of in Braggin’ Rights.
- Over at Rock M+: Joshua Manning is the latest Mizzou Tiger to enter the transfer portal. Plus, an update on Jayden Stone.
