There aren't many positions up for grabs heading into training camp, but the loaded Baltimore Ravens will have several key battles at critical spots on the offensive line, cornerback, and at linebacker. Training camp is a chance for under-the-radar players and those on the roster bubble to shine bright, while creating separation in preseason games that'll likely see starters and key contributors rest.
With the first practice just hours away, we're looking at six Ravens with the most to prove during training camp.
OL Ben Cleveland
Baltimore re-signed Cleveland, bolstering their offensive line depth, as Cleveland provides a veteran presence at guard behind Daniel Faalele and Andrew Vorhees, who won the starting left guard job last offseason. At the same time, the Ravens retained Ronnie Stanley. A third-round pick in 2021, the 6-foot-6, 360-pound Cleveland didn't win a starting job on the Ravens' offensive line in his first four years. He saw action in all 17 games last season but played a career-low 49 offensive snaps, as the Ravens' line remained healthy nearly all season. Baltimore drafted two players from LSU in the 2025 NFL Draft: offensive tackle Emery Jones Jr. and offensive guard Garrett Dellinger. Jones was selected in the third round (91st overall), while Dellinger was picked in the seventh round (243rd overall), and both could make Cleveland a roster casualty.
CB Jalyn Armour-Davis
Armour-Davis is entering a crucial time in his career. With the Ravens' cornerback position stacked with young talent, the former Alabama defensive back was getting reps at safety during off-season workouts. Before the NFL draft and free agency, Baltimore had four cornerbacks on the roster. Since then, the Ravens have added Chidobe Awuzie, Bilal Kone (rookie), and Robert Longerbeam (rookie). T.J. Tampa is in a similar boat after missing most of his rookie season to various injuries. Armour-Davis will enter year four needing a strong training camp.
Devontez Walker
In some sense, Devontez Walker is still a rookie after seeing action in just nine of Baltimore's 17 regular-season contests after dealing with injuries and inconsistency coming out of training camp.
Walker, a 2024 fourth-round pick, impressed during Ravens' spring practices with consistent performance and acrobatic catches. Walker aims to secure a larger role in the passing game after a rookie season limited by injuries and inconsistency, culminating in just one catch for a touchdown. Despite being projected as the fourth or fifth receiver on the depth chart, Walker's speed and big-play potential could make him a valuable deep threat for Lamar Jackson.
Rasheen Ali
Baltimore didn't draft a running back and only has four players on the roster at the position. Henry is an All-Pro, Justice Hill is a solid No. 2 running back, and Keaton Mitchell provides a home run threat. Ali needs a strong training camp to warrant the Ravens carrying three running backs.
LB Trenton Simpson
Simpson, a third-year linebacker, is looking to reclaim a starting role for the Ravens in 2025 after being benched in 2024. Simpson started the first 11 games of the 2024 season before losing his starting position and finishing the year primarily on special teams. Ravens head coach John Harbaugh expressed confidence in Simpson and confirmed he will start on early downs in 2025. Simpson will look to make early improvements in pass coverage.
DB Beau Brade
With Ar'Darius Washington ruled out with a torn Achilles until at least late November, early December, second-year safeties Brade and Sanoussi Kane are vying for the third safety spot Baltimore utilizes. Brade, who primarily played on special teams as an undrafted rookie last year, made the 53-man roster last August after flashing in the preseason. He played in 11 games last season, posting two tackles on defense and one on special teams. The third safety in Baltimore's defensive system plays about 40% of the snaps, and Brade will need a strong training camp.
