OH Leuven have announced the signing of Polish midfielder Lukasz Lakomy from Young Boys. The 24-year-old midfielder joins the club initially on loan, although the Belgian side have included a purchase option as part of the deal. OH Leuven had been interested in signing Union St Gilloise midfielder Mathias Rasmussen instead, but while they did make an offer to the Brussels side, they have opted to bring in Lakomy instead.
The 24-year-old has spent the past two seasons in Switzerland after joining Young Boys of Bern from Polish side Zaglebie Lubin. During his first season with Young Boys Lakomy played 35 games in all competitions, scoring twice and providing four assists. Last year he played 37 games with one goal, while so far this year he has made two appearances.
While Lakomy may improve the side in central areas, he is unlikely to solve their main problem; scoring goals. The side have scored five goals in five games so far, but none of their strikers have found the net. This has been a problem for OH Leuven for some time now and it doesn’t look like their business so far this season has resolved the issue.
David Hubert’s side did at least grab their first win of the campaign this past weekend with a 1-0 win over Dender.
