Finally some good news for the Cowboys.

There's been a lot of doom and gloom surrounding the Cowboys in recent weeks but a new injury update is providing a breath of fresh air.

Cornerback Trevon Diggs, who has been battling a knee injury going back to a torn ACL in 2023, has been officially moved off the physically unable to perform (PUP) list after passing his physical.

Diggs recovered from his torn ACL entering 2024 but suffered a setback after a cartilage injury last December ended his season. He was on the PUP list all of training camp and preseason but on Sunday it was reported he is cleared.

This doesn't mean Diggs will necessarily be ready for week one against Philadelphia but it's a good sign for the short-term future. If he entered the year on PUP, the cornerback wouldn't be able to play for at least four games.

It's great news for Dallas who is touting a shallow secondary on the outside. Outside of DaRon Bland, the Cowboys have a mixed bag of corners like recently-signed Kaiir Elam, inexperienced players such as Andrew Booth and Caelen Carson, and injured rookie Shavon Revel Jr.

It's paramount that Diggs returns to form to play opposite of Bland so Dallas can choose the best of a mixed bag to play in the slot or outside if Bland takes the slot.

The news come amidst rumors of Diggs being a cut candidate next season to save cap space. His salary was also reduced by $500,000 this season as a result of not rehabbing at the team facility in the offseason, a stipulation of his contract.

In short, the relationship between Diggs and Dallas was in need of some good news and they finally got it. If he can return to his peak form for the Cowboys this season it could bury much of the negativity surrounding both parties this offseason.
