The Denver Broncos have some tough decisions to make with the deadline for 53-man rosters looming.
Most difficult decisions facing Denver Broncos before forming final 53-man roster originally appeared on The Sporting News
The Denver Broncos have concluded the preseason schedule, but there won't be much time to take it in. The NFL will have every team cut its roster down to 53 players by the 2:00 pm Mountain time deadline on Tuesday.
With one of the most complete rosters in the league, the Broncos will have to let go of some players they would love to be able to keep. But that is not how the NFL works. So, the team will have to get creative to find the best 53 players to head into the upcoming season with.
Here, we will detail what could be the four toughest decisions for George Paton, Sean Payton and the rest of their staff to make before Tuesday's deadline.
Denver Broncos most difficult roster decisions ahead of 53-man roster deadline
Lucas Krull or Caleb Lohner?
The Broncos are going to have Evan Engram and Adam Trautman as their top two tight ends for the season. Nate Adkins, despite being injured during the preseason, is also going to be on the roster.
Should the Broncos keep Lucas Krull or Caleb Lohner? Krull is the better player at this stage, but Payton believes in the raw ability of Lohner and may not want to expose him to the waiver wire.
Eyioma Uwazurike or Jordan Jackson?
This one seems pretty cut and dry. The Broncos have Zach Allen, D.J. Jones, John Franklin-Myers, Malcolm Roach and Sai'vion Jones as their top five defensive linemen. If they keep six (and they should), that battle seems to be between Eyioma Uwazurike and Jordan Jackson.
How many wide receivers should the team keep?
When the Broncos traded Devaughn Vele earlier in the week, it seemed to open the door for an undrafted player such as Courtney Jackson or Joaquin Davis to slip onto the roster. But there is a growing belief that the team will open keep five wide receivers (Courtland Sutton, Troy Franklin, Marvin Mims, Pat Bryant and Trent Sherfield).
That could be a mistake, as Jackson has had a fantastic camp and would likely be swooped up on waivers.
Running back situation
Easily the most complex position on the entire roster, what are the Broncos going to do here?

The only sure things seem to be that J.K. Dobbins and RJ Harvey are safe, but anything beyond that is anyone's guess. Tyler Badie seems to have played himself onto the roster while second-year player Audric Estime seemingly played his way off. The final spot could come down to either Jaleel McLaughlin or Blake Watson.
