The Detroit Tigers, while they're in great shape to win the AL Central and earn a postseason bye, have seen one of their young stars go down with a brutal injury. Early in the year, Jackson Jobe hit the injured list and was ruled out for the year.

He underwent Tommy John surgery and will miss a significant amount of time. It's a tough blow for the Tigers, but the 23-year-old Tigers pitcher recently got an encouraging update on his recovery from his father, no less.

Tony Paul of The Detroit News shared some comments from Brandt Jobe on Jackson's injury recovery. Brandt expressed confidence in Jackson being ready when he's expected to be ready, as his recovery thus far has gone well.

Jobe is Recovery Well From Tommy John Surgery

The Tigers lost Jackson Jobe to injury early this season, with the right-hander hitting the injured list and being ruled out for the year in early June. Before his injury, he had a 4.22 ERA in ten starts with a 4-1 record.

Jobe's injury recovery has gone well, with the Tigers starter making great strides toward getting back on the mound. He has a target date of throwing his first pitch since the surgery on December 15th, which would be a quick turnaround for Jobe, something his father mentioned in a recent interview.

"I will tell you," Brandt Jobe said, "he went to them and said, 'Tell me what to do, and that's all I'm going to do. And I'm going to do it to a T.'"

He continued describing the injury recovery for Jackson, highlighting the opinion of the doctors he saw and was listening to amid his recovery.

"Because they gave him examples of so many guys that have overdone it," Jobe said. But I asked him, 'How's it going?' He's like, 'It's unbelievable.'"

Detroit has been without Jobe for most of the year and will likely not see him return to the mound until late 2026 at the earliest. But that isn't stopping Brandt from expressing confidence that his son will return and be great for the Tigers.

"He'll be ready," Jobe said. "I promise."

It's a simple message, but one that conveys what needs to be said: Jobe will be ready to go for the Tigers once he's cleared. Whether it's in 2026 or 2027, Jobe will be ready to step back onto the mound for Detroit.

It's a tough injury to recover from, but "Brandt said Jackson's progression has been impressive." Paul writes. "During a recent checkup, doctors told Jobe that he's almost got his complete range of motion back."

While Jobe still has a ways to go towards returning to a mound for Detroit, the progress he's made so far is a great sign that his recovery is going well, and that his return to the Tigers rotation won't be a rushed one.
