Golf fans are heartbroken for Rickie Fowler on Sunday evening.
Fowler, once a top-five player in the world, has been playing better as of late. Earlier this month, his strong finish at the FedEx St. Jude earned him a spot in the BMW Championship. That finish - a tie for fourth place - secured him a spot in most of the top tournaments for the 2026 golf season.
The former Oklahoma State Cowboys star, known for wearing orange on Sundays, had a chance to secure another big tournament appearance this weekend. Unfortunately, he could not get it done.
Fowler came into the weekend in the 48th position in the FedEx Cup standings. He needed a really strong finish at the BMW Championship to get into the Top 30 and qualify for the PGA Tour Championship.
The former top-five golfer ended up finishing in the Top 10, but he missed a birdie putt on the final hole, which eliminated him from contention at the Tour Championship.
🚨 A tremendous run comes to a close at the BMW.
