The Philadelphia Eagles have finalized a big-time wide receiver trade on Sunday afternoon, August 17.
ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reports that the Philadelphia Eagles have agreed to a wide receiver trade with the Houston Texans. The Eagles, who are coming off of a 40-22 blowout win over the Chiefs in Super Bowl 59, already boast an impressive and dangerous wide receivers unit. Philly's wide receivers room is led by star wideouts A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith.
But the Eagles have decided to upgrade and add some depth, making a wide receiver trade with the Houston Texans on Sunday afternoon. Schefter confirmed the trade shortly after 3:15 p.m. E.T. on Sunday.
ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported on Sunday afternoon that the Eagles and Texans have agreed to a trade.
"Trade: the Houston Texans are sending WR John Metchie to the Philadelphia Eagles, per sources," he reported.
Metchie, one of the fastest wide receivers in the NFL, was a second round NFL Draft pick out of Alabama in 2022. He missed the 2022 season due to a cancer diagnosis but showed promise in 2023 and '24.

NFL fans are already jealous of the Eagles
While Metchie is far from a star, he'll be an incredibly dangerous No. 3 or No. 4 weapon in Philadelphia.
"THE #EAGLES GOT ONE OF THE NASTIEST ROUTE-RUNNERS IN THE #NFL IN JOHN METCHIE. Howie Roseman does it again 😮💨😮💨😮💨," one fan wrote.
"BEST WR ROOM IN THE LEAGUE," one fan added.
Other fans, meanwhile, are skeptical. There's a reason why the Texans decided to part ways with him.
"The Eagles traded for a WR4 that just got beat out by a rookie 4th round pick for his job. Howie did nothing here. Fixed it for you," one fan added.
