The Los Angeles Sparks have leaned on short bursts from Cameron Brink since her return on July 29, using her in 10- to 17-minute stints while she ramps up after a 13‑month ACL recovery.

In six games prior to Tuesday, she posted 11 points, five rebounds and two blocks vs. the Connecticut Sun; had 14 points, five rebounds and two steals in a win over the Seattle Storm; and a five‑block night in a win over the Indiana Fever on Aug. 5.

Brink’s 2025 line through seven appearances sits at 6.3 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.9 blocks in just 12.9 minutes per game on 45.5% shooting and 43.8% from 3-point range.

The cadence hit a snag Tuesday. Brink logged five minutes against the New York Liberty, headed to the locker room to have her left ankle taped near halftime and did not return in a 105–97 loss.

On Thursday, however, Los Angeles Times reporter Ira Gorawara observed that Brink was practicing with the Sparks and "looks fine" after Tuesday’s exit.

Cameron Brink's 2024 ACL injury and Recovery

Brink tore the ACL and meniscus in her left knee on June 18, 2024, after absorbing a bump on a drive against Connecticut. The injury ended her rookie season and removed her from the Olympic 3x3 roster; the U.S. ultimately took bronze in Paris.

Over the ensuing year, she added strength, progressed from individual on‑court work to contact drills and leaned on fellow ACL rehabbers (including the NBA's Jamal Murray) for perspective before being cleared in late July.

She was removed from the injury report ahead of her July 29 return vs. the Las Vegas Aces after an initial "doubtful" designation days earlier.

Brink described the rehab’s late stages as the toughest mentally, relearning pace, reconditioning and rebuilding confidence, while emphasizing patience about her 2025 ramp‑up.

As Los Angeles (15-17) makes a push for the playoffs, Brink’s availability in short, impactful bursts remains the plan and so far, the defensive returns align with why the Sparks drafted her second overall.
