After missing the playoffs once again last season and trading away De’Aaron Fox at the trade deadline, many around the NBA expected the Sacramento Kings to begin a rebuild this offseason.

Instead, the Kings have elected to keep their core of Domantas Sabonis, DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine together and they have also made some notable additions to their roster in hopes of making the playoffs in the loaded Western Conference next season.

So far this summer, the Kings have added Nique Clifford, Maxime Raynaud and Dennis Schroder to their roster and more moves could be coming.

Kings predicted to trade DeMar DeRozan to Nets

With this in mind, The Sporting News’ Jeremy Kruger recently released a mock trade that would see the Kings send DeRozan to the Brooklyn Nets for two players.

In the trade, the Kings would lad Terance Mann and Day’Ron Sharpe from the Nets in exchange for DeRozan.

Of course, the Nets entered the offseason looking to add a star player to their roster and even with them landing Michael Porter Jr. from the Denver Nuggets, DeRozan may intrigue them as a star they could add.

For the Kings, moving on from DeRozan would be a tough decision but also one that would not be a complete surprise, especially as they would swap him for a solid guard in Mann and a young center in Sharpe who would both likely see a large role next season.

Mann has been a solid backup shooting guard during his six seasons in the NBA and while he would be a solid addition to the Kings’ roster, they already have an abundance of depth at the shooting guard position while they lack point guard depth.

Because of this, Sacramento may instead look to add a point guard from the Nets if they were to pull off this trade.

While Mann’s fit is a questionable one, Sharpe would be a great addition to Sacramento’s roster as he would give them another young big man next to Raynaud off the bench.

Despite this, the Nets may not be interested in adding DeRozan to their roster as they continue their rebuild and the Kings may also want more in return for their veteran forward in a potential trade.
