An MLB umpire drew heavy criticism after multiple missed calls in the Dodgers vs. Angels game.
MLB Umpire Facing Intense Criticism For Missed Calls in Angels-Dodgers originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Los Angeles Angels completed a six-game season sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers with a 6-5 win on Wednesday. It knocked the Dodgers out of first place in the National League West and gave the Angels a glimmer of hope in trying to snag a Wild Card spot.
The home plate umpire for the game was C.B. Bucknor, and his history has been well-documented. The Big Lead ranked Bucknor as the second-worst umpire in a 2023 rankings list, and the only one ahead of him was Angel Hernandez.
Bucknor also had plenty of questionable games behind the plate this season, including missing a season-high 28 calls in a game in June against the Cincinnati Reds and St. Louis Cardinals.
Bucknor, who umpired his first MLB game in 1996, became the talk of the baseball world Wednesday night for another heroic performance.
Bucknor Facing Backlash After Awful Outing
Bucknor faced plenty of criticism for the calls he made during the game against the Angels and Dodgers, and it started even in the first inning.
"I went through the 1st inning of the Dodgers vs Angels game to see how many missed calls CB Bucknor had. Bucknor missed 7 calls in the 1st inning alone," one user wrote with a video.

It’s actually mind boggling that he is still allowed to umpires games 🤦♂️ pic.twitter.com/DRkjzkvsEc
An Angels fan account also posted a screenshot of some of Bucknor's missed calls.
CB Bucknor is having an all-time bad game, aka a typical Wednesday night for him.

According to the Balls and Strikes account on X, which posts reports after each game. Bucknor missed 24 calls, 12 in favor of each team.
They even provided video links of the missed balls and strike calls from the game.

The criticism continued from baseball fans online.
"CB Bucknor cooking up one of the worst umpired games of all time," one user wrote. "CB Bucknor needs to be investigated there’s no way he misses this many strike calls every game, batters are surprised they get to walk," another stated.
Another fan called for Bucknor to be fired.

"CB Bucknor is the new Angel Hernandez," said another. "CB Bucknor should be unemployed btw," another wrote. "CB Bucknor is an embarrassment to baseball," another wrote.
Dodgers writer Blake Harris also posted a screenshot from the first inning.
This many missed calls would be a pretty bad night for an umpire

Dodgers' slugger Shohei Ohtani struck out looking in the eighth inning.
After striking out, he turned to Bucknor in disbelief after the pitch was out of the strike zone.

So, it was yet another awful performance from Bucknor, and this time, plenty of fans took notice.
