Find out if Patrick Mahomes is expected to suit up for the Kansas City Chiefs' matchup against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 2 of the NFL preseason.
The Kansas City Chiefs are set to face off against the Seattle Seahawks in a late-night preseason exhibition at Lumen Field on August 15.
While many teams in the NFL are expected to play their starting quarterbacks this weekend, the Chiefs may not be so keen to throw star signal-caller Patrick Mahomes into harm's way unnecessarily.
Mahomes threw a touchdown pass in Kansas City's loss to the Arizona Cardinals last week and looked sharp in limited action.
Is Mahomes expected to take the field against the Seahawks on Friday?
Patrick Mahomes status update
In his comments to the media this week, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid wasn't bullish on the prospect of Mahomes playing against Seattle, saying:
"There's a good chance he (Patrick Mahomes) doesn't (play on Friday), we'll see how it goes."
Who will be Kansas City's quarterback if Mahomes doesn't play?
Should Mahomes find himself sidelined for Friday's preseason contest, the Chiefs will rely on veteran passers Gardner Minshew, Chris Oladokun, and Bailey Zappe to lead their offense.
Prediction for Chiefs vs. Seahawks
"Chiefs 24, Seahawks 21: Kansas City's starters put up a decent performance last week against the Cardinals, and Friday's game presents the perfect opportunity to show signs of improvement. Seattle is still working through several roster decisions and is not expected to put up much of a fight. With few starters expected to see the field for both teams, this game truly could go either way." - Jon Ediger, Chiefs Wire
