This would be a wild twist.
Jets might sign QB who threw 5 interceptions in one half originally appeared on The Sporting News
The New York Jets are short a quarterback.
Tyrod Taylor is expected to miss the rest of training camp, and that creates an opening.
The Jets still have Justin Fields, Adrian Martinez and Brady Cook. But they're looking to add another guy into the passing mix.
On Thursday, they worked out Nathan Peterman and C.J. Beathard to see if they wanted to sign either QB.
Beathard is interesting, a former third-round pick of the 49ers who has made 13 NFL starts.
Peterman is the name that catches the eye, though. The former fifth-round pick of the Buffalo Bills has one of the worst halves in NFL history on his resume.

In November of 2017, the Bills took on the Los Angeles Chargers. Peterman threw five interceptions before halftime. Buffalo benched him in the second half.
He actually had a game nearly as bad the following September, putting up the rare 0.0 passer rating, but even that didn't have five picks in a half.
Peterman has made five starts total in the NFL, four with the Bills and then one in 2022 with the Bears.
Peterman spent the 2024 summer with the Saints, then was with the Raiders for two weeks, then spent the rest of the season on the Falcons' practice squad.
He hasn't found a home yet this offseason. At age 31, he has to take any workout he can get at this point.

The Jets clearly hope they'd never have to actually use Peterman and Beathard for anything. Fields, a healthy Taylor and a third-stringer of either Martinez or Cook should be enough.
But in training camp and the preseason, it can't hurt to have an extra arm on hand, and maybe they'll call on one of Peterman or Beathard to join the fray.
