Kansas athletic director Travis Goff reflected on the impact of David Booth’s $300 million gift, calling it personal for Booth and transformative for the University. Goff said their relationship developed naturally, and Booth encouraged others to contribute before making such a significant commitment.

The gift includes $75 million for phase two of the stadium renovation, with the remaining $225 million left unrestricted to provide long-term financial stability and flexibility.

Goff praised the Lawrence community and city leaders for approving $75 million in municipal support, talking about project’s economic benefits and KU’s transparency in communicating its impact.

He is excited for fans to experience the new stadium, the upgraded premium spaces, improved seating, and the new tunnel for the football team.

With the project now moving into conceptual design, Goff said confidence in starting phase two after the upcoming season has grown dramatically. While construction on the east side will likely extend into next season with reduced capacity, he stressed the importance of not cutting corners.

Goff said Booth’s gift will serve as a key resource, allowing KU to adapt to future needs, from revenue sharing to other possible challenges while keeping the program competitive for years to come.
