Clark's new teammate explains why she's so nervous.
“I’m a Little Nervous”: Caitlin Clark’s New Fever Teammate Makes Honest Admission originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Indiana Fever entered the week fifth in the WNBA at 18-14, but their guard depth has thinned dramatically over the past few weeks.
On Friday, August 8, one day after the team's 95-60 loss to the Phoenix Mercury, the Fever announced that both Sydney Colson (torn ACL) and Aari McDonald (broken bone in right foot) would miss the remainder of the season.
This news came amid an extended absence from star Caitlin Clark, who has missed Indiana's last 10 games with a groin injury, having only played in 13 of 32 games this season due to multiple injuries.
As a result, the Fever signed veteran guard Odyssey Sims to a hardship contract on Sunday.
On Monday, Sims spoke to the media about her teammates, her new role and her upcoming Indiana debut.
"I'm excited about tomorrow. I know Indiana has great fans, some of the best fans in the W(NBA). So, I'm a little nervous because there's going to be a lot of people. But I'm excited to play, you know, actually put my jersey on and like I said, be around my teammates."
When asked how her skill set will fit in, she said, "I think I learn pretty quickly. I know this team does get out and run a lot. That's what I like to do, so I think I'll be just fine."
Odyssey Sims practiced with the Fever today, calls this a great opportunity.

Who is Odyssey Sims? Resume and Recent Form
Sims, a former No. 2 overall pick (2014), is a 2019 WNBA All-Star and All-WNBA Second Team selection with career averages of 11.2 points, 3.8 assists and 2.5 rebounds across stints with the Tulsa Shock/Dallas Wings, Los Angeles Sparks, Minnesota Lynx, Atlanta Dream and Connecticut Sun.
She began this season with the Sparks, starting 11 of 12 appearances and averaging 9.8 points, 3.5 assists, 2.9 rebounds and 0.8 steals before being waived on July 2.
In college, Sims won a national title at Baylor and the Nancy Lieberman Award as the nation’s top point guard in 2014, part of a decorated All-American career before entering the WNBA.
At 5-foot-8, Sims brings a downhill game and experience initiating offense, traits Indiana lacked once injuries piled up.
What Can We Expect in Sims' Indiana Fever Debut?
Sims' ability to control the tempo, put downhill pressure on the opponent and defend at the point of attack mirrors much of what McDonald provided, offering a plug-and-play bridge until Clark returns.
Sims should handle significant minutes immediately and could even start at point guard, allowing Sophie Cunningham to return to her natural role off the bench after Indiana asked her to facilitate in recent games.
Her first test comes Tuesday against the Dallas Wings, where Sims is poised to debut and give the Fever a proven floor general on short notice.
