Palermo: Alfred Gomis will miss the start of the season

Injured against Manchester City, Alfred Gomis has suffered a fractured radius. The news is a harsh setback for the Palermo goalkeeper.

The Senegal international (16 caps) picked up the injury during his team's last friendly against the Citizens (0-3). He fractured his radius and will be sidelined for a period that has not been specified.

"Following an injury sustained during the match against Manchester City, Alfred Gomis underwent tests which revealed a fracture of the right arm's radius. The player has already begun his rehabilitation," the Sicilian club announced in a statement on X.

Having joined Italy's Serie B in July, the former Stade de Reims keeper played just two matches last season. He was hoping to carve out more playing time during this pre-season.

The native of Ziguinchor will miss the first round of the Coppa Italia against Cremonese on Saturday, August 16, 2025, as well as the Serie B opener against AC Reggiana on Saturday, August 23, 2025.

Pierluigi Gollini, is reportedly being considered by Palermo as a potential replacement for Alfred Gomis.
