2027 linebacker Braylon Williams keeps Mizzou ‘even’ with other top schools in pursuit of his talents

Receiving multiple in-school visits from Missouri this offseason, Braylon Williams wanted to keep the Tigers in his top group. With 30 offers to his name, Williams shortened his list to 20 after previously taking the number lower this offseason. Receiving multiple in-school visits from Missouri this offseason, Braylon Williams wanted to keep the Tigers in his top group.

With 30 offers to his name, Williams shortened his list to 20 after previously taking the number lower this offseason. Missouri found itself among a list of blue bloods and other Power Four programs in part to Williams’ relationship with offensive line coach Brandon Jones, who assists in recruiting Texas.

“I feeling like I’m building a good relationship with him,” said Williams, a Class of 2027 linebacker at Arlington (Tex.) Lamar. “He’s a cool dude. Missouri’s up there really because, obviously, they’re in the SEC, but I feel like they can be a good fit for me, too.”

Williams, a 6-foot-2, 220-pounder, has flourished at linebacker and defensive end. He has received interest to play both positions at the next level. But in his conversations with Jones, Williams heard about opportunities at linebacker with his ability to still rush the passer.

“He’s just genuine,” said Williams, who Missouri offered in early February. “He doesn’t try to sell you nothing. If you’re interested, you’re interested, and that’s really it.”

Even though Luther Burden III played a different position, Williams always kept his eyes on the wide receiver and admired his intensity.

“I just like how his attitude is,” Williams said. “And if his attitude is like that, I’m pretty sure people on defensive side of ball are going to be nasty, fast and physical.”

The Rivals Industry three-star worked with defensive backs this offseason to improve his hands and dropping into coverage. He also put more focus into track and field to boost his speed and endurance.

With Texas and Texas A&M on his offer sheet, Williams hasn’t closed the door to programs further from home. He tabbed every school as “even” in his recruitment, albeit not setting any visits currently set for this fall.
