Football season is right around the corner, and Ricky Williams is ready to do some damage on Madden NFL 26. In an interview with On3, Williams talked about what he likes about the newer versions of the Madden NFL games.

“It was different when I was playing, because you wanted to see your ratings,” Ricky Williams told On3. “And now, because the ultimate team, it just depends on if they’re going to release a Ricky Williams 99 this year. But either way, it keeps my name alive, like I still get Google Alerts of highlight videos of me running wild on Madden. So it’s exciting that Madden has allowed us retired greats to still be relevant, and I love playing the game, and to get on the game and play with myself.”

Madden NFL 26 officially releases on Thursday, Aug. 14, but early access is available now. It’s not clear what Williams’ rating is to start off in the game, but in Madden NFL 25, the former Pro Bowl running back could be upgraded to a 99.

Ricky Williams reflects on playing older EA Sports games

Along with William’s love for Madden, he also enjoys EA Sports College Football, which made his return to EA Sports last year. The former Texas Longhorns star revealed to On3 about how much he enjoyed playing himself while he was at school.

“I remember the first time when NCAA came out I was a freshman in Texas,” Ricky Williams reflected. “We just spent all of our time giving it the triple option, giving it to the fullback, giving it to the fullback. That first time is really magical when you grow up as a gamer, and the first time you get to actually play with your character. Nothing like it.”

Williams said he has College Football 26, and he shared his thoughts on the game. “I like that they keep the gameplay similar, but different,” Williams revealed. “I love it. I think I prefer the NFL game. But I think just because the NCAA game has been gone for so long, but now that he’s back, I’m starting to get back into it.”
