Marsh didn't hesitate to address the news.
Chicago Sky Coach Tyler Marsh Reacts to Indiana Fever's Season-Ending News originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Still missing WNBA All-Star Angel Reese due to a back injury, Tyler Marsh and the Chicago Sky looked to avoid another losing streak, facing Kelsey Mitchell and the Indiana Fever at Gainbridge Fieldhouse (Indianapolis) on Saturday.
The Fever came into the game very shorthanded, specifically at the point guard position. Not only was Caitlin Clark still out due to a groin injury, but backups Aari McDonald and Sydney Colson suffered season-ending injuries in Thursday's loss to the Phoenix Mercury.
This left the Fever with zero true point guards, forcing them to start Sophie Cunningham at that position.
Tyler Marsh Addresses the Fever's Injuries
Ahead of the Sky and Fever battle, Marsh sat down for a pregame press conference. When asked if Indiana's transition defense would change without a point guard in the lineup, Marsh opened by wishing both Colson and McDonald a "speedy recovery."
"No, I don't," Marsh commented. "Well, first I want to express our feelings for Sydney and Arie for their injuries. Hope for a full and speedy recovery for both of them. So, I know that's tough."
Marsh proceeded to answer the reporter's question.
"But to answer your question, no, they have post players that run the floor really well," Marsh added. "Obviously, they have Kelsey Mitchell, who's probably the fastest guard in the league. I think that Lexi and Sophie do a really good job of running the wings in transition as well, looking for those kick aheads and those threes. So, transition defense will still be a point of emphasis for us tonight in taking care of the basketball offensively."
Sky Have Injury Issues of Their Own
While the Fever have certainly caught the injury bug, the Sky have had injury issues of their own throughout the 2025 season. Reese's absence against Indiana marked the fifth straight game the former LSU forward has missed, along with her eighth of the year.
In early June, Chicago's starting point guard, Courtney Vandersloot, also suffered a season-ending injury — a torn ACL, the same as Colson. But the Sky did receive some good news for the game in Indiana as Michaela Onyenwere, Ariel Atkins and Hailey Van Lith have all been ruled available.
