Penn State football is working hard to shape its identity for the 2025 season during training camp, and while it’s early, some of that information is taking shape. Blue White Illustrated has the early scoop for you, and we’re sharing it with our premium subscribers. Here are some of the topics we’ve covered so far this weekend.
- With potential five-star running back Kemon Spell taking multiple game visits this fall, how does the Penn State staff feel about the relationship right now?
- Who will wear the green dot helmet with communication when the team takes the field against Nevada?
- Do you have a good sense about the second and third-team defensive line battles at this point?
Penn State gets a slow start to camp
Of course, we also cover various injury updates as the team works back from offseason surgeries. Penn State head coach James Franklin commented on the slow start of camp, noting that many players were limited in their participation. However, things are heating up as players are cleared for full contact.
“It’s just unusual. Usually you start you’re in good shape, and it grows (the injury list), and we’re going in the opposite direction. So we’ve made some modifications to our practice. We do that every year based on Andrew Nelson, our sports scientists’ recommendations, as well as Chuck Losey and the coaches. So I think that’s helped. We’re out here a little bit shorter, not much shorter, but we’re out here a little bit shorter, reducing reps a little bit, not much, not significant. So those guys just had to get cleared, and they’ve cleared. So we’re going in the opposite direction, which is good.”
