Packers make decision on Bo Melton’s cornerback roster spot originally appeared on The Sporting News
Bo Melton is the coolest story in Green Bay Packers camp.
He's trying to convert from wide receiver to cornerback. It was the best move both for his career and for the Packers' current depth charts.
Melton got to show what he could do on Saturday night in the Packers' first preseason game, taking on the New York Jets.
He wasn't on the field for the opening snap, but he was soon out there for much of the first half, including some time spent guarding former Packers wideout Allen Lazard.

Melton got involved in some tackling situations and wasn't overly challenged in the air.
The most important note, though, came from how Melton spent the second half.
This is what The Athletic's Matt Schneidman posted on X as the game wound down:
"If you thought Bo Melton wasn't a roster lock, he was wearing a ball cap with his pads off on the sideline in the third quarter."
Yep, that'll tell you all you need to know.

The Packers let Jaire Alexander go this offseason and overall have a weak cornerback room. They needed to have some players step up at CB to go into this season with confidence.
Having Melton move over and take up this job has been a major lift for Green Bay. And the fact that they feel good enough about him to not even play him in the second half of the preseason opener is quite telling.
Melton should have his new gig in the NFL come Week 1, and it's a big deal for both him and the Packers.
