Saturday saw the Black Knights take another step as it relates getting primetime ready as they put on the pads and went head to head.

From a defensive perspective, it’s hard to gauge the performance due to a lot of guys being held out. However, we thought the effort and physical play was good but the ‘D” lacked in execution.

We would like to say that freshman Julian Porter stood out amongst the corners.  Then you have Julian Porter who is a young cornerback that could eventually make his way into the two deep.

Bryson Banks at inside linebacker and Dane Tallman at Apach are playing well.

Let’s not forget Fortner and Thomas, who played well and Ford looked good at Dog.

From our perspective, the first and second group on defense played well in the scrimmage.

Offensively, one could easily be pleased with where this group is from an install standpoint. They are much further ahead right now with the scheme and their packages. Understandably, this is the 2nd year in a system. Some guys did some good things in yesterday scrimmage.  However, no one in particular stood out above the rest. The offense still has some question marks, but it appears that the coaching staff is pleased with where they are overall.

GBK’s Podcast Host & Football Analyst Joe Iacono had the opportunity to catch up with both Dewayne Coleman and Gavin Shields after Saturday’s scrimmage. Let check out what the two players had to say.
