Despite being one of the most high-profile players in the 2025 NFL Draft class, Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers ended up falling into the seventh round.

The Miami Dolphins ended his free-fall, selecting him with the No. 231 pick overall, with his agent telling ESPN that most teams across the NFL viewed him as third or fourth-round talent, but felt he was "too big of a name to be a clipboard holder."

Although the seventh round isn't where the former No. 1 overall recruit was expected to go, he has shown plenty of flashes in the early stages of training camp. He has dazzled fans with his accuracy and touch against the Dolphins defense, with many fans starting to believe he has the makings of a possible franchise quarterback.

However, even with his strong training camp, the Dolphins clearly weren't ready to move him up the depth chart.

In the first rendition of the team's preseason depth chart, Ewers is behind Tua Tagovailoa, which isn't surprising considering he is a Pro Bowl talent when healthy.

However, when it comes to the battle for the backup role, Ewers still found himself behind former first-round pick Zach Wilson.

Miami Dolphins quarterback Quinn Ewers (14) looks on during training camp at Baptist Health Training Complex.

While this may disappoint some fans, Ewers will have a chance on Sunday against the Chicago Bears to make up some ground in the battle with Wilson.

Ewers will make his NFL debut at 1:00 p.m. ET in. game that will air on NFL Network.
